One West Lothian resident received a special delivery for his birthday last week from online electricals retailer AO.com. After discovering that Andrew Shepherdson-Spiers, from Armadale, loved their green vans, the team at AO decided to make his sixth birthday one to remember.

With a recent order, Andrew’s great-grandmother Lizbeth Warren received an AO teddy bear and despite loving his new friend, Andrew kept asking if he could also get a toy AO delivery van. When Lizbeth got in touch explaining his love for the green delivery fleet, AO reached out to put a smile on the young fan’s face.

Andrew was delighted to see one of the vans pull up outside his house last week, especially when he realised it was delivering him a new TV and gift box full of green goodies as a birthday surprise – including a little toy van. The six-year-old, who has autism, was also given the opportunity to meet the drivers, explore the van and sit in the driver’s seat – something that he’s always dreamed of.

Lizbeth, Andrew’s great-grandmother, said: “Andrew always talks about being an AO driver when he’s older, so he was absolutely over the moon to spend time with the van and the drivers. He’ll be talking about this day for a long time and it’s honestly the best birthday present he could have had – we want to thank AO for being so thoughtful.”

An AO spokesperson said: “When we heard about Andrew and his love for all things AO, we knew we had to do something special to celebrate his big day. We hope he enjoys his new TV and goodies!”

AO.com has a network of 24 depots across the country, including its Larkhall depot in South Lanarkshire, ensuring that the retailer can be as close as possible to its customers nationwide.
