A footy-mad groom who thought he’d miss England’s clash against Panama on his wedding day received the surprise of a lifetime after his bride secretly teamed up with AO to bring a giant matchday screen to their evening reception.
Manchester United fan Mark Fletcher tied the knot with Meg Fletcher at Allington Manor in Grantham on Saturday 27th June and was left speechless when a giant screen showing the game turned up at their evening reception.
The newlyweds and their guests were able to cheer England on to victory thanks to the surprise, which was delivered by AO’s custom matchday truck.
The surprise was organised after Meg realised how disappointed her husband was to be missing the match, despite never complaining about the clash. Working with AO behind the scenes, she arranged for the giant screen to arrive during the celebrations, ensuring he didn’t miss a second of the action.
Meg said: “Mark has been an absolute keeper throughout our wedding planning.“We started organising everything around 18 months ago, long before the fixtures had even been announced, so we had no idea there would be a clash with the match. Although he never once complained, I knew he was secretly disappointed and I just could not let him miss it.”
She kept the plans under wraps until the big day, leaving Mark stunned when the giant screen arrived.
Meg continued: “Keeping the surprise under wraps was not easy, but seeing the look on his face when the screen came on made it completely worth it.“It was such a special moment and our guests absolutely loved being part of it. It made an already unforgettable day even more memorable. Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s surprise happen.”
