Online electricals retailer AO has teamed up with Greggs to provide and deliver fridges, freezers and other white goods for struggling families. Following a successful pilot, the new partnership was rolled out nationwide across 500 schools in disadvantaged areas on 3rd February.
Teachers at participating schools can now identify the families who would benefit most from a Greggs Foundation grant which will pay for a fridge, freezer, cooker or washing machine to be delivered by AO. Known for their excellent customer service and going above and beyond for customers, AO have established a dedicated service for vulnerable customers that ensures any special circumstances are taken into account.
Launched in April last year, the Supported Living arm of the Bolton-based retailer have added the Greggs Foundation to their growing portfolio of grant providers which includes Grocery Aid, Family Fund, Family Fund Business Services and Glasspool.
The Greggs Foundation, the corporate charity of the Greggs bakery chain, are already known for their Breakfast Club programme which provides over 35,000 school children in disadvantaged areas with a free healthy breakfast.
Piers French, Director of Client at AO Business, said:
“At AO, we’re trusted to put the customer first and we believe everybody deserves the same excellent customer service experience, no matter what your circumstance. By working closely with the Greggs Foundation, we can help their Hardship Fund support more struggling families than ever.”
Tracy Lynch, Greggs Foundation Manager, said:
“We are pleased to have AO as our new white goods partner after learning about our shared values and the fantastic customer experience they provide. The Greggs Foundation have already helped several struggling families since the pilot, including a family who lost their kitchen in a fire and a family who have previously been living in a homeless shelter.”
The Greggs Foundation is a grant making charity which aims to build stronger, healthier communities, by distributing around £3 million per year to local charitable organisations. The charity has expanded their offering to include school uniform and white goods.
